Just as if you squeezed with your eyes, you'd see 16th century people walk by. The gardens are as beautifull, although I went in October, so all the flowers were put inside the orangerie. Really bummed I missed the exhibition on the clothing btw! Pretty pictures. I've always been interested in European history and culture - from the architecture and fashions, to the social classes and all the details that made up daily life. I'm a great fan of the Tudor period and Gregory's books are very readable. I love the clothing too, square necklines and those great big fur sleeves and French hoods, nothing like the 1530s for impressive dressing. Hampton Court looks so grand and so utterly English.
