She’s marvellous, although I’m not yet sure what I think of the Soldier Son trilogy. I keep meaning to revisit them, especially the Liveship books. She brings a realism to her world that sets it apart from some of the more traditional and/or derivative fantasy, I think. Thank you for the recommendation, in any case - it’s reminded me to go and dust off my collection. :) I actually have all of Robin Hobb’s books bar the latest two, so that’s another thing in common! If you like Patrick O'Brien, you should have a look into Robin Hobb. She's a fantasy author, but it's Good fantasy - the kind where you don't really realize it's fantasy because it's just so good!
